LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - University of Kentucky’s Coldstream Research Campus off of Newtown Pike has 50 businesses and organizations on its property.

A lot of those industries are in bio-tech, pharmaceutical and equine health.

On Thursday, another business in Coldstream had a grand opening that will manufacture life-saving medicine.

Kindeva Drug Delivery, located off of Newtown Pike and Citation Boulevard, specializes in manufacturing life-saving medications. That includes nasal-administered products that can reverse opioid overdoses. They also make medicine for patients who suffer from migraine headaches and PTSD.

“We are really excited about the Lexington site because it brings something unique to us,” Kindeva Drug Delivery CEO Milton Boyer said. “This nasal platform is very unique to our portfolio.”

Kindeva drug delivery makes the nasal products on site, and they say it will help save lives.

“What I can say is we work with phenomenal clients who truly care about those patients. There are folks who aren’t going to be on the face of the planet anymore because they are stuck in that entrenched addiction, and their products enable them to be revived whenever there is an overdose,” said Simon Scholte, Kindeva Drug Delivery Vice President and General Manager Simon Scholte.

Currently, there are 150 employees on staff, and Kindeva is looking to hire more employees.

“We need professionals, we need degreed scientists, we need degreed engineers, it takes all of them to be able to do it,” said Scholte. “We got phenomenal entry-level positions in a clean room making life-saving medications that you can grow into a six-figure career.”

Kindeva says it’s creating a future for people where there may not have been another day.

“Our tagline at Kindeva is we manufacture more tomorrows, and we think that is more than a tagline, it is more like an ethos, because of the drugs we make, we really do create more tomorrows,” said Milton Boyer.

Kindeva has 10 sites across the u-s and the United Kingdom.
